DAVID WISEMAN

 

BIOGRAPHY
Born 1949  Essex
1967 - 9    Colchester School of Art
1969 - 72  St. Martins School of Art
1972 - 5    Royal College of Art

1973         Won RCA John Minton Prize

Since 1975 visiting and part time lecturer various colleges incl.
Kingston, Slade, Newcastle, Hull, Cheltenham, Winchester, etc.

1977         Received Arts Council of Great Britain Award

1978         Received Greater London Arts Association Award

1978         Moved to studio in Holborn  with Graham Crowley, Vanessa Jackson

1980         In short list of 3 for National Gallery Artist in Residence

1982         Exhibited in major British Council touring exhibition in Germany with Howard Hodgkin, Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossof etc.

1985         Moved to Perivale, Ealing, building large garden studio alongside studios occupied by potter wife Betty.

1989         Completed ceiling mural at Charing Cross Hospital followed by many major public art commissions

1999         Four paintings purchased by The Bank of England.

2010         Elected to the National Acrylic Painters Association winning their Presidents Prize in 2010 and Adrian Henri Memorial Prize in 2012

2013         Elected to The London Group in their centenary year.
